The Hidden Benefits of Relaxation

Learning to relax is a skill, one that may lead to some astounding benefits.  But most of us don’t really know what it truly means to relax and many of us think that relaxing is a waste of time.

Nothing could be further from the truth and what’s more tapping into your body’s physiological ability to relax can lead to tapping into a range of attributes that we may only skirt in normal day-to-day life.

A definition of relaxation is the state of being free from tension and anxiety.  How often do you truly experience that, and would you know how to?

This is what the well-known physicist and writer Fritjof Capra had to say about relaxation:

"During periods of relaxation after concentrated intellectual activity, the intuitive mind seems to take over and can produce the sudden clarifying insights which give so much joy and delight."

That’s right.  If you give yourself the time to truly relax, you may receive all sorts of inner promptings, ideas and solutions to problems.  In fact, the cardiologist, Herbert Benson, found that people who brought their brains to intense activity for a period of time and then suddenly shifted into a relaxed state as a matter of habit, regularly experienced insight to a greater degree than those who did not.

Researchers at Harvard Medical School found that in people who regularly elicit the relaxation response (the body’s ability to regulate its own physiology), the body is less responsive to the stress hormone noradrenaline, even during times of the day when not practising relaxation.

My download “Relaxation Magic” goes into much more detail about the benefits of developing the skill of relaxation beyond what we might think.  It also guides you through a 4 week course to teach you to relax deeply and includes a guided imagery visualisation mp3.  Learn to incorporate effective relaxation into your life and perhaps develop your creativity, problem-solving skills, less stress and greater insight.
